Description

Rat polyclonal antibody to Tau having MW of 82 kD that helps stabilize microtubules in our body. On splicing MAPT one can obtain tau protein. Majority of them are found in the CNS region within the neurons but they are not abundant in astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Tau proteins exist as six different isoforms in brain tissue. These can be distinguished from each other based on their binding domains. If tau protein is no longer functioning we may develop disorders that affect the nervous system such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. These proteins are very rarely found in non-neuronal cells and are mainly active in the axon part of the neuron.
