Rabbit polyclonal to SOX5.Transcription factor SOX5 is a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcriptionfactors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of the cell fate.SOX5 may act as a transcriptional regulator after forming a protein complex with other proteins. SOX5binds specifically to the DNA sequence 5'-AACAAT-3', and activates transcription of COL2A1 andAGC1 in vitro. SOX5 may also play a role in chondrogenesis. Several isoforms of SOX5 have beenidentified.
