Rabbit polyclonal to SUMO2.SMT3 suppressor of mif two 3 homolog 2 (SUMO2) is a member of the small ubiquitin-like modifierprotein family. It is a ubiquitin-like protein that can bind to a target protein as part of a posttranslationalmodification. However, instead of targeting proteins for degradation, it is involved in anumber of cellular processes, such as nuclear transport, DNA replication and repair, transcriptionalregulation, mitosis, apoptosis, and protein stability. In order for SUMO2 to be active, the last twoamino acids on the carboxy-terminus must be cleaved.
